what really breaks my heart is the way Emma says ”Regina, please” because it’s like Emma has just now realized that this entire time, she’s never actually seen who Regina is. Oh, she’s had a few glimpses, and she knows Regina better than any of the others. But she’s never really seen the person who hides behind those jagged walls of pain and loss and anger. and now that she has, she knows that everything, all of this, was so very unnecessary. because she and Regina are more alike than they are different. and now she’s thinking that it is too late to make any of it right.
